Indianapolis Real Estate Due to Bounce Back
October 21st, 2007 categories: Indianapolis Real Estate News, Indy Market Trends
There s an old saying, What goes up, must come down . All across the country, homeowners who were in a market where home prices were rising so quickly noone could keep pace wth value, are now seeing these words realized in their property values.
Here in Indianapolis, our home prices did not rise at the rate many areas of the country did. We are actually in an enviable position, as far as real estate prices and future predictions, if one can predict the future.
The Moody Report places Indiananapolis as number two out of the top ten markets to bounce back. Helping us along are low unemployment rates, stable employment for the business and professional sector and the lowest housing prices in the nation.
Moody anticipates our housing prices to rise 6.3% between the first quarter of 2008 to the fourth quarter of 2009, which will put us back in line with our normal appreciation growth.
I believe some areas in the city will see a higher percentage of growth, especially those near the airport. The new airport is scheduled to open in 2008 and the Purdue Accelerator Park is building at the Ameriplex.
The new Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianpolis Colts will also open in 2008, bringing more Hotels, restaurants and conventions to the city.
I don t have a crystal ball, but, I see great things happening in the next few years for Indianapolis. In my humble opinion, I think now is a great time to invest in real estate here in Indy and a perfect time to buy a home.

Paula - If you could get Peyton Manning to mention the Real Estate market in just one of his appearances on TV, you guys would be set! That guy is on every other commercial. I don’t know how he has time to play Football!
I hope the market starts to bounce for all of us soon! Good stuff and great post.
Paula–A crystal ball is not necessary. A few years back buyers were wishing for lower prices and more options. Now those opportunities are here and it is time to take advantage. It is important for buyers to look for experts in their market such as yourself for advice, not the national media. Sounds like a great time to buy in Indianapolis!
Paula,
I too amd waiting for something to give. Were ok but not to the extent as we are used to…hopefully sooner than later.
It is nice to hear some good news! Too often, the news media concentrates on bad news, so I like hearing good things.
Indianapolis and Charlotte are lucky, perfect places to buy real estate, no boom and bust here either… Your economy and well run government has made values increase steadily over time. Terry McDonald
